Thoughts and prayers needed for Delaware County Deputy injured in the line of duty
Deputy Nickolas Keith (“Nick”) Golden (27) is a 2015 graduate of Marysville High School and a 2019 graduate from Bowling Green State University with a major in Criminal Justice. Following his graduation from BGSU, Nick joined the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office in 2019 attending the Columbus Police Academy graduating with the 133rd class. After his graduation from the academy, Nick began his patrol duties.
On December 5, 2024, Deputy Golden was assisting a driver on I-71 near the exit ramp of US 36 when a woman operating a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia lost control of the semi-truck and jack-knifed off the west side of the highway. Deputy Golden was struck by the semi-truck sustaining serious injuries. Deputy Golden was transported by ambulance to the Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He underwent several hours of surgery by three different surgical teams. Deputy Golden is scheduled for at least three additional surgeries over the next week. He will require inpatient rehabilitation services following his release from the hospital. Deputy Golden is married to Lauren (Meyer) Golden, whom he married in 2023. The couple reside in Marysville with their two dogs – Beau and Rex.
